Jovita Zähl was born in Bensberg near Cologne, Germany. She studied in Brussels, Cologne and Düsseldorf with the pianists Pavel Gililov, Jean-Claude Vanden-Eynden, Aloys Kontarsky and David Levine. She graduated with honors for piano and chamber music at the Musikhochschule Köln and the Robert-Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf.

Jovita Zähl is active as a soloist, accompanist and teacher. Her varied repertoire includes contemporary music performances as well as concerts with classical-romantical repertoire, pedagogical concerts for children and French-German piano-poetry recitals.

She has performed for many years in a piano duo with Alexander Bildau; worked and performed with various New Music Ensembles; appeared as a performer in composer's workshops, including George Crumb, and premiered several works for piano solo. She taught at the music school in Rheinbach-Meckenheim and worked for 10 years as a teacher and accompanist at the University Essen-Duisburg.

Now, after several years of living in Warsaw, Poland and Munich, she resides and works in Cologne.

In addition to her recording of works of Brown and Crumb with Piano Duo Degenhardt-Kent on Mode, Ms. Zahl has recorded the Saint-Saens Der Karneval der Tiere with Alexander Bildau, piano and the Junges Orchester NRW conducted by Joachim Harder (Fidula) and a solo-CD with piano works by Fauré, Debussy and Messiaen (UFB).
